A mediação entre inteligências artificiais e biológicas é muitas vezes vista como uma dicotomia, em que uma é colocada como superior à outra, no entanto, esta visão binária não consegue captar a complexidade desta relação.

O conceito de inteligência tem sido tradicionalmente associado à cognição humana, mas a inteligência multiespécies tem desafiado esta definição antropocêntrica (Margulis & Sagan 1995). Inteligência multiespécie refere-se às habilidades cognitivas coletivas que existem em sistemas biológicos complexos como ecossistemas, grupos sociais, microbiomas e redes de atores tecnológicos.

Estes sistemas apresentam uma mediação sofisticada que não é redutível à soma das suas partes individuais (Wilson 1980, Latour 2005). Aplicando a Lógica do "Meio Incluído" (Nicolescu 2012) à intersecção entre inteligências artificiais (tecnológicas) e biológicas (multiespécies) implica o reexame da mediação no contexto da Inteligência Artificial (Frauenberger 2019, Verbeek 2012).

Mediation between artificial and biological intelligences is often viewed as a dichotomy, in which one is seen as being superior to the other. However, this binary view fails to capture the complexity of this relationship. The concept of intelligence has traditionally been associated with human cognition. The emergence of multi-species intelligence challenges this anthropocentric definition of intelligence (Margulis & Sagan 1995). Multispecies intelligence refers to the collective cognitive abilities that exist in complex biological systems

such as ecosystems, social groups, microbiomes, and technological actor-networks. These systems exhibit sophisticated mediation that is not reducible to the sum of their individual parts (Wilson 1980, Latour 2005). Applying the Logic of the Included Middle (Nicolescu 2012) to the intersection

between artificial (technological) and biological (multispecies) intelligences entails the re-examination of mediation in the context of AI (Frauenberger 2019, Verbeek 2012).
